What a beautiful shot...did you take this? Where is this taken from? I love the feel of this picture! Nice way to start my day. Thanks
Cynthia, this picture is quiet relaxing if you take a moment and enjoy the view.
Now that's a great picture! I love old building and ruins and all sorts of things of this nature. Great job, I've got to do better at taking pictures myself.
Hi Karen, yes I did take this shot of a middle 1800's antebellum home located in north Georgia. It was a magical time in the evening. Glad I could start your day on great note!
Hi Frank, It seems you know how enjoy the view, such a simple pleasure. Thanks for stopping by!
Hey there JL, You and Jamie wold love this place! The home was actually quite modern for it's time, it had a convect type oven and indoor plumbing at one time. I've got a blog started about this place but it's taking me some time time to finish it. I hope to have it ready soon and this was just a tease.
How beautiful the light is when it bounces off the bricks like that, Cynthia. It looks like some photos of ruins I've seen in Spain. I would never have guessed they were from an antebellum home in Georgia. Gorgeous!
Cynthia, that is a very cool picture, thank you for sharing!
Hi Liz, I thought this place was fabulous in the daylight then when I went back at dusk and it was spectacular! How fortunate you've been to Spain, have you posted any photos? I'd love to take a peek.
Hi Robert, It is my screen saver for now and reminds of the magical time I spent there, thanks for the visit!
how pretty.
It was Maureen, it was indeed!
Beautiful..sigh...
I love this photo, it would look fabulous framed! What a great house it must be...any other shots of the house to share?
Being teased has never bothered me all that much. Can't wait to see the whole post and I look forward to it.
That is so gorgeous......you captured it at the perfect time to have the colors come out so vividly. I love it!
That' is an amazing photograph. The color is just wonderful!
Cynthia----that is some really serious blue---love it.
Hello my friend-Hope you are doing well. I absolutely love the pic. What a way to end my day. Hope you had a great Labor Day. <SMILE>
Wow, What a shot. This place does look almost ancient and I wondered what it would say "if these walls could talk."
It's certainly intriguing but not something I recognize. I like the vegetation growing on top of the wall.
Ana, you would have loved snapping away, so many opportunities for great shots.
Sharon, this home was way before it's time and yes I'll be sharing the history and more shots to come!
JL, I know you will enjoy the unusual history this place has to offer, not to mention the incredible grounds.
Ann, I was so lucky when I shot this, because I have no idea what I'm doing behind the camera, I was surprised at the outcome when I saw it myself :) The colors were even more vivid in person!
Chris, It was an awesome place to visit, I was super lucky this came out at all
Charles, No color adjustments were made, it really was this blue!
Sharon, Glad I was able to end your day on good note!
Carole, It does had an interesting history, first such joy then it quickly turned to sadness. People have reported ghost like figures there so that's one of the reasons I went back in the evening. I saw no apparitions but did I feel a sense of overwhelming calm, peace and love.
Richard, the vegetation growing up and around this home was the icing on the cake for me.
Cynthia,
What a great composition and subject matter! You could have this printed on watercolor paper for about $30. It would make a stunning addition to your office.
Mike in Tucson
Well that's means something to me coming from a great photographer like you Mike. So I'm assuming it's special paper I load into the printer?
I took a smidge over 100 photos that day and was happy this turned out this well. I'm spying that real camera at Costco you spoke of earlier ;)
Cynthia,
No. I'm talking about going to a printer and having this printed on a half sheet of watercolor paper, with a big white border around it, and raggedy edges. It makes for a striking presentation, and it's cheap. Now go buy that cheapie camera at Costco. Panasonic Lumix.
Mike in Tucson
This is a great picture taken in perfect light. Just wondering where it is.
Thanks for coming back to explain it to me Mike, I pictured just what it would look like by your description and I agree it would look stunning!
I don't think I can wait for Santa to bring me that camera cause I was chasing around a lizard yesterday with my camera and was extremely disappointed the results. I was so close he could have bit my nose, guess I was too close!
Hi John, This was taken in the northern part of Georgia, it was a truly spectacular antebellum home and I'm working on a blog that will have more pictures soon. Stay tuned:)
Thats a pretty picture...I wonder what they looked like when they werent ruins!
Fantastic shot Cynthia! I said "ohhhh" the minute it came up on the screen. Simply gorgeous.... Can't wait for the blog!
Debi
Hi Team Honeycutt, from what I could tell from old photos and what I've read, it was more along the lines of an Italian Villa, very out of ordinary from the south. It was certainly grand!
Hi Debi, I can only imagine what my photos would have looked like if I had a half decent camera. The sky was really that color, I just tried to sharpen it up a bit. I'm a slow blogger but I'm a workin' on it!
It's just beautiful. Nothing else to say. Beautiful covers it.
Yep Tammy and located right here in good ol' beautiful Georgia, I love it here!
Cynthia - I really love this photograph and I have featured it at one of my favorite groups ............
EXPRESS WITH PHOTOGRAPHS AT ACTIVERAIN
Nice contrast with the blue sky, Cynthia. At the risk of a cliche, "if walls could talk."
Morning Vegas Bob, wow thanks for the feature! Your group Express with Photographs is one of my favorites too.
Morning John, I like the cliche, in fact I think it's pretty witty!
Hi Cynthia, beautiful photo, love it, somehow I was thinking about Barnsley Gardens when looking at it!
I am planning to buy a new camera, any sugegstions??? Thank you!
Yes it is Barbara, I've got an upcoming blog about my recent trip. No suggestions from me, I'm still researching. This was shot w/ my husbands old work camera. I just got lucky that evening.
That is indeed an awesome picture!
Thanks Georgina! It was great setting.
You are right. With my job and my husband's crazy schedule we usually take short trips and we love the GA mountains. Helen is among my very favorite places.
Hi there Tammy, yesterday we drove up to Big Canoe, just lovely and I love Georgia! My family tree revels I had relatives in Coweta County in the early 1800's. So it's like I've come home :)
Hi Cyn - I love this shot. The texture and color are just perfect. Good job! Thanks for sharing this one - 'Hope you have a great evening Cynthia!
Thanks so much Mary, hope the travels went well and you had a blast! This was a very fascinating place more photos to come!
This is just gorgeous, Cyn, I can feel the end of summer southern air there...Is this property rented out for weddings? I saw something featured on TV that was in the south, and was a "ruins" of sorts that was just this beautiful...
Morning Cheryl, Yes you can rent out the ruins and have a reception there, the wedding is held off to the side of the gorgeous incredible gardens. They have small concerts there also. If I can get my thoughts to gel in the ol' grey matter my blog with more photos should be coming soon.
Nice shot, Cynthia! I like the perspective and all of the texture in the bricks.
Mike
Morning Mike, thanks a bunch for your kind words! I very happy the way this turned out. I'd like to go back with better camera one day.
Your very welcome my friend!
VB ;o)
Cynthia, that is a great shot!
Morning VB, I love the photo you have depicting the group, it's pretty sweet!
Morning Tony & Darcy, It was a beautiful place in the morning or at dusk!
Cynthia So many hues, contrasts - it is a wondeerful picture and the possibilities for its' use are endless Karen
Morning Karen, This was a magical place in the evening. For weddings and other functions they have electricity hooked up and there were candles every where. I can only imagine how beautiful it would be at that time!
I love ruins. Can't get enough of them. Ruins, ghost towns, haunted hotels. I guess it all boils down to loving history, but with ruins, we have to do a little more research to dig into the past, so to speak.
Morning Russel, I love them too and this place has a history of a ghost too. Never saw it, that's why I went back at dusk! I've been so busy I really need to finish the follow up blog to this and pronto. Thanks for the visit :)
Cynthia,
This is an amazing photo! I sure can see the location as being a very romantic spot. Thank you for sharing this one. Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the compliment Gerry, that means a lot coming from you. I have kept myself so busy with other projects I haven't made the time time finish the blog that goes with this photo. I hope to soon and it will have more photos of ruins & heirloom gardens!
It was a very peaceful and romantic trip!
Cynthia ~ fabulous picture. I would have this printed and framed.
Hi Monique, that is definitely on my list of things to do! Thank you for stopping by and leaving your nice compliment!
WOW Cyndee, everything about this shot is awesome...color, composition...we can tell that you have a designer's eye. This is a show stopper for sure! Now I'm headed to the Costco site to check out the Panasonic Lumix that Mike mentioned. THANKS for sharing.
Hello Cynthia,
What an amazing shot! Love it! The colors are awesome, especially the blue! Thank you for sharing!
Rita
Morning Ginger, Thanks so much for your lovely compliment! I just bought a new Lumix and I'm not sure I bought the right one, I'll have to ask him again what model it was. I feel as though I'm over my head with the new camera. I haven't posted any new photos I've taken with it...yet!
Hi there Rita, Well thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! I was really a beautiful night sky.
