In downtown Granville, Ohio on Beggar's Night they were ready to woo...I saw THING 1 and Gene Simmons too! The residents had gotten into a spooky spirit for Beggar's Night, they waiting on their doorsteps to give out treats to wee ones and tall ones at first sight!

There was THING 1..............................................................and Gene Simmons too!
Being new to the town I had no idea what to expect and was astounded by what I saw! There were such elaborate home decorations and displays, I wasn't sure who had more fun the shorties or the tall.
This fun resident was ready to enthrall!
I went with my good friend Graham who was dressed as a skeleton pirate, the streets were bustling this was going to be a fun riot. He was pretty scary looking, good thing I knew it was him under that costume or else I would have went a bookin'.

Should we visit the spider house.....................................or watch this witch stirring her brew?

Pumpkins were plenty.............................................................and costumed wiener dogs too!

Things were getting pretty darn scary and we were getting ready to call it a night...........

But the pumpkin man waved us over..................and the trash can creature said it would be all right...

..........................as long as the Granville Po-Po was still in sight!

These talented musicians were jamming................................ignoring the shaving cream fight.

Later that evening I spotted the Sock Monkey, that's when I knew everything was going to be all right!

if you want to use a photo or some copy just email me... more than likely we can work it out

Very nice, but I have one word to say "wreath".................I repeat "wreath".
You kill me Roger as I nod off to sleep, is that all you can say...............as for that that wreath not one more peep ;~D
Now that is what I call a Halloween experience! I used to love taking my kids trick or treating and I also loved handing out the candy to the little goblins. We moved six years ago to a house in the woods and we don't get any kids on Halloween any more. Thanks for sharing your holiday with me!
Cynthia- Feature I suggested, your well written post
Pictures and poem I did like the most.
All of the costumes were cute and quite funky
But my vote for the best was Mr. Sock Monkey!
PS Where's the wreath?????
Oh Sharon you would have LOVED this knowing you like misadventures, it was pretty scary but quite an adventure!
Well Kathy I cannot top your witty ditty...but next time in Florida I must visit your city!
Oh no the wreath............................blast that Roger fella!
SPAM 10 POINTS!
What the??? Is your local "PoPo" shaking doing those kids for a cut of the candy?
I will be back tomorrow with pictures from our evening!
What fun photos Cynthia- Looks like everyone had a wonderful time!
PS - Looks like you've lost a bit too much weight... could stand to put on a few pounds, Girl - LOL
What a wonderful community spirit!
Beware Drunk Sock Monkeys!!! Who knows what they throw?? Lint balls??
Roger I'm afraid I'll have to Report a Concern on your comment!
Hey Russell, LOL, heavens no, the local Po-Po were giving away candy treats and were on hand to ensure the traditional shaving cream shenanigans did not get out of hand! I'll be looking for your post :~)
Hi Debi, It was certainly a sight that evening and I had a blast! I will be back to looking normal soon thank you for your concern.
Morning Patricia, It was like nothing I've ever seen before, very fun for us all!
Morning BLiz, The Sock Monkey was well behaved, he drank one beverage and off he went with a wave :~)
Sock Monkey is a brilliant costume, and at least it was a well behaved sock monkey. Must not be related to SMAK at all!
Why Bliz I'm afraid I'll have to Report a Concern on your comment...this is family post. Your friend pictured must have another name maybe you got him confused with another???
Cynthia, looks like a fun time was had by all...now about that sock monkey...I'm pretty sure I've seen him in one or two bars over the years...of course after a couple of JD's up...who knows!!
"EEK" was ok for a couple of days, but I'm ready for your old photo to re-appear!
Cynthia Those are all your usual lovely photos - Granville is a very involved town - lotsa' spirit
Nope, That's SMAK! He belongs to Miss Bad Manners and does much of her dirty work! Works for bananas....so he's cheaper than a W-2 employee!
Nick, It was at the end of the evening and it was quite a sight to see that Sock Monkey plop down on the bar stool in front of me! It look really funny when he took his head off to have a drink & chat.
No worries my photo will be back to normal tomorrow. I'm more comfortable being behind the camera :~)
Karen, Thanks so much for nice words, it's always appreciated THING 1 pictured above was busy telling me his life story, too bad I couldn't understand a word he said. He was adorable! Granville seems to be a very spirited town.
BLiz, I must look for your friend on Miss Bad Manners post. I apologize your comment will not be reported!
Hey Cynthia, wow those are awesome pictures you have. Looks like so much fun had by all, love the garbage can and band playing in the yard :) Have a great Day!
Cynthia, SMAK is typically accompanied by Fluffy the Pomeranian...Fluffy nips the ankles while SMAK goes high!
Great pictures Cynthia. Don't you just love Halloween in small towns. I'm always pleasantly surprized at the amount of effort that people put into it.
Hey Laura those guys playing music were good too, a lot of the kids had very creative costumes!
Hi BLiz, Oh man sounds like you got some crazy stuff happening on your blog :~)
Hi Jack, it was one of the best Halloweens I had never experienced. Even thought I was forewarned I never expected such a show. The citizens of Granville should be proud, it was such a fun and safe experience for the kids big and small ;~)
Cynthia, you can leave the current photo up for a while...she's a real cutie!!
Why thanks Nick...this was taken at my next door neighbor's home. Mabel and I would have a chat and take tea quite often, I have very fond memories of that time!
Well... we had a pretty good crowd and enough teenagers to actually scare so all in all it was a great evening! And we had leftover candy which I always appreciate! This was taken just before nightfall on our driveway by the street ;-O
Hi Cynthia - These photos are great and it looks like there were a lot of people getting into the spirit of the Holiday! I trust they all look more like "normal people" today! LOL
Hey Russell! I showed this to my husband when you mentioned you did this last year......
We both agree you are CRAZY man!!! I wouldn't be able to this...I'd start laughing before they would make it halfway up the driveway :~D
Hi there Mary! I had the best time, you really had to see it and experience it in person...hey whatcha' doing next Halloween??? Hey you never know ,maybe I'll see that guy in his KISS get up at the local market!
Cynthia,
I want to move to your town! Y'all have much more fun. Tucson doesn't know how to celebrate this holiday.
Mike in Tucson
Hi Mike, it is was such a cool night, I have no words that could describe the awesome sights that evening. People were pretty fast moving and I got the best shots I could, the streets were so crowed!
Thanks for the visit!
I just knew if I popped in here that you would have some awesome photos and I would have a smile on my heart after view them. What fun...I missed it this year because the kids were in Washington, DC - usually their neighborhood just like Granville - that's your kind of town for sure!!! Loved the kids, but adored the "weiner dogs"...YUM, my pretties - LOL!!!
Cynthia, OH this post was so much fun to read and see all the halloween photos. Thanks.
Hi Barbara, this town was quite in the spirit of the Halloween holiday, that's for sure!
LOL@ you Peggy aka Dot, Those wiener dogs had the perfect costume! You & Sharon would have loved it, it was nothing like I'd seen before. So that means it was right up your alley :~) Sorry you had to miss it cause the kids were in DC.
Hi Rebecca, Oh good, I'm glad this post could make a little sunshine in your day! There were many dogs dressed up, this is a dog friendly town with water bowls down the main street for the pups :~)
Ha ! What great shots !!! Well captured partner :o)
PS: I see you brought back that great profile pic !! Love that one :o)
Hey Sheldon!!! So glad you could visit....it was such a fun night in this little town!
Yep, I brought back the little one, thanks :~)
LOVE the sock monkey! haha!
It was the perfect ending to a crazy night Renee!
Cynthia Are you OK or just busy -we haven't heard from you in quite awhile?
Hi there Karen I have been busy but I'll be back here on AR soon! Thanks so much for checking in, much appreciated :~)
VERY late to this block party, but love Thing 1, and the Sock Monkey, two very clever and cute ideas...oh, and the trash can, and the skeleton pirate, and...
Oh my good buddy Cheryl you can be as fashionably late as you like! I'm not getting any notices so I'm late in responding to you. Yes it hard to chose what photos to use, it was a great time had by all. it still makes me smile when I go back and look at those pics.
